Here are our credentials and experience
The range of available services is one thing, but the qualifications and credentials of the adviser are more important.
Our Director, Graham Elliott, has an impressive track record. He is an MBA as well as a Chartered Tax Adviser. That means he combines business understanding with the gold standard tax qualification.
He was appointed by the Charity Tax Group (CTG) as its Technical Adviser on 1 April 2016, owing to his considerable specialist involvement in charity VAT and Tax issues over many years. This involves helping with discussions with HMRC and the Treasury, and dealing with issues that affect the sector as a whole.
He has written the monthly VAT contribution to Accountancy Magazine for over 23 years (over 250 pieces without break!) and currently contributes approximately monthly to Tax Journal. This shows that he is both reliable – meeting deadlines; being technically sound – and makes the subject interesting and clear.
Graham is invited to lecture widely in a range of forums, from IBC Conferences, to CIOT meetings, to Charity Finance Group seminars. He has contributed to radio discussions of VAT issues, including Radio 5 Live and BBC Radio WM. He is the Chairman of his Chapter of the VAT Practitioners’ Group. These activities keep him at the forefront of technical developments in his subject areas.
He is one of the relatively few practitioners in the charity field that covers VAT and the other taxes. These are usually split between two or more advisers, leading to wasted time and the risk of something falling between stools.
For most of his career Graham has worked unsupervised, but has been responsible for developing others and helping them fulfill their potential. He has not needed an entourage of resources and helpers. He is a self-starter and an original thinker. He does not simply accept received wisdom, but challenges preconceptions and looks for alternative angles and interpretations. His approach is refreshing, and he can bring new views to bear on familiar subjects.
